MEN'S TREATMENT PROGRAMME
Location: 37 Berry Hill Road, St.George’s DV 03
Men’s Treatment programme formerly known as “Camp Spirit” is a Bermuda Government funded Substance Abuse Treatment Program under the umbrella of the Department for National Drug Control and the Ministry of Justice.
Men’s Treatment is a modified Therapeutic Community (TC) Residential Relapse Prevention Program. It utilizes a modified semi-therapeutic community (TC) approach and a modified version of Mr. Terence T. Gorski’s CENAPS Model an internationally recognized programme that views substance abuse as a disorder of the whole person. Thus, these approaches to treatment utilize and provide a combination of social and psychological therapy that fosters change in client’s behavior, attitudes, feelings and values.
The treatment approaches specified in this programme are based upon a mixture that includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavior modification, motivational enhancement therapy (MET), reality therapy, relapse therapy and counseling, and the twelve-step facilitation approach. There is also a focus on the training of interpersonal and self-management skills. One frequently used therapy in this model is cognitive behavioral relapse prevention in which clients are taught new ways of acting and thinking.
